Join the fight for literacy in Charlotte-Mecklenburg

We have an opportunity to be a part of a great community initiative organized by Read Charlotte to help prevent reading loss during the summer months. Thousands of children in Mecklenburg County are at risk of falling behind in reading due to the school closure caused by the COVID 19 health crisis. On June 8, 2020 Read Charlotte will launch a campaign that will encourage local families to get a “Reading Checkup”. It is for rising K-4 students. Learn more at https://readcharlotte.org/

From Language of God: In the episode, Jim talks with Bishop Claude Alexander about his growing up in the south with parents esteemed in the medical field–his mother was the first black psychiatrist in Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas and his father was family practitioner who was assigned to Martin Luther King, Jr. whenever he was in Mississippi–and about the role of science in racial reconciliation in America today. Claude provides some pastoral and poignant notes of hope at the end of the episode.

TechFit Technology and New Media Camp Registration Now Open

Do you have campers ages 13-18 years old? Register them for Tech Fit Camp 2020 at The Park Church on Eventbrite. Camp dates are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., from July 6 – July 17, 2020.

What: Technology & Fitness Camp

When: July 6 – July 17, 2019 (M-F of each week) 9am-5pm daily 

Who: all campers ages 13-18 years old 

2020 is the year for you to get your teenager enrolled in Tech Fit Camp at The Park Church! This year’s technology camp will be held at The Park Church – Independence and camp includes daily workshops on the following: 

  • Mobile app creation
  • Video Concepts
  • Script writing
  • Editing
  • Music Theory and Vocal technique 
  • Production
  • Fitness education
  • Applying technology to reach your fitness goals Practical approach to technology 

You don’t want to miss an opportunity for your child to hear from and interact with some of the top professionals and experts in these fields. They will gain knowledge and skills that can set them on a promising career path. This learning experience exceeds much more than what they would get in a school classroom. 

You definitely want to be a part of this awesome summer experience!

The Scholarship Ministry announces 2020 scholarship applications

Applications will be open Monday, March 8, 2020. If you are a graduating high school senior and a member of The Park Church for at least six (6) months prior to the graduation deadline and meet all other criteria, please download the application. All applications are due by May 11th to the Receptionist’s desk at the Beatties Ford Rd campus.
