Counseling Ministry

The Counseling Ministry provides individual, couples and family counseling, and facilitates support groups in the areas of grief, dating couples, and divorce care.

The mission of the Counseling Ministry is to assist in developing Kingdom citizens by providing Christian counseling and services that aid individuals in understanding who they are in Christ and in applying their faith to life situations so that they may better worship and serve God.

About Counseling Sessions

Counseling services for members of The Park Church are provided free of charge. For non-members, there is a small fee. Sessions last for 50 – 60 minutes. Telehealth sessions are provided for individuals who reside in North and South Carolina. Due to licensure laws, therapy cannot be provided for persons who reside outside of these two states.

In addition to providing support for people experiencing life transitions in grief / loss, relationships and career, we support people who are experiencing crisis situations. Depending on the nature of the emergency, we may utilize community systems to assist in meeting health needs.

To get started with our counseling services, please complete the inquiry form. We generally reserve a 1-2 week waiting period before sessions begin.

February 2024: Heart Health Awareness Month

Every year, we encourage our Park family GO RED by wearing red one Sunday in February. The American Heart Association uses the platform GO RED to bring awareness of how heart disease has affected women and how gaps in clinical care impact heart health in women.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women. Nearly 45% of women age 20 and over are living with some form of heart disease.
Please visit the Healthcare Ministry in the Narthex after service to find information on how you can take steps to change your
lifestyle behaviors to reduce the risk of heart disease. Stop by the
ministry table to pick up this information and have your blood pressure checked. Knowledge is power, and you have the power to change unhealthy behaviors.

The Healthcare Ministry is seeking to partner with the National Black
Church Initiative in the next few months as we present health issues
that have a greater impact on minorities. Also, be on the lookout for
the upcoming CPR classes coming soon.

    Watchmen Ministry

    The Park Church Independence image

    The Watchmen Ministry

We are a vital component to ensuring a safe and secure environment during The Park Church services and events.

As “doorkeepers” and Watchmen, both men and
women in this role help to ensure attendees feel safe through vigilant observance and high attention to detail.

Many who serve in this ministry do so out of a call to be watchful under the training and guidance of the Director of Security. As part of training, you’ll learn more about common and uncommon scenarios.

If you’re firm but polite, can easily interact with people who may have energy that need to be appropriately diffused and have professional communication etiquette, then this ministry may be for you.

    Becoming A Man (B.A.M.)

The mission of B.A.M. is to connect, caring, consistent, Godly men with middle and high school students in a Christian environment.

B.A.M. is designed to meet the emotional, behavioral and spiritual needs of male youth in middle and high school. Our effort is to begin to cultivate emotional balance, behavioral modification, and spiritual guidance in a comfortable and safe environment for male youth.

As part of the Men’s Ministry, B.A.M. looks to engage our young men from ages 12-18, as we seek to mentor and help them to reach their full potential through faith in Jesus Christ. We have caring, competent adults who serve as consistent figures in the lives of young men.

BAM gathers every 2nd and 4th Mondays, from 6:00-8:30 p.m., beginning January 22nd. Search “BAM” on the general Events calendar or the calendar on the Men’s Ministry page to view upcoming sessions.
